Training
Cub Scout Adult Leaders, are required to be trained! If a current date is not provided, the next class has not yet been scheduled. Use the material as reference, and contact the Pack Training Advisor or Committee Chairperson.
You are considered 100% trained and eligible to wear the "Trained" emblem on your uniform when you have completed the following:
Youth Protection Training St Timothy School
Required by our Sponsor
Youth protection certification is training that is available from each district. The training course lasts about 2 hours and is designed to teach unit leaders the programs and policies of the Boy Scouts of America as they relate to keeping our youth safe from Child Abuse.

New Leaders Essentials or Fast Start Training
To be considered "Trained," a Scout Leader must complete New Leader Essentials (approximately 90 minutes) and the specific basic training course for his or her position. New Leader Essentials covers information common to Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Varsity Scouting, and Venturing.

Cub Scout Basic Leader Training
Basic Training covers some topics in detail and introduces some skills to help get you started as a more confident and skilled leader. Basic training is a requirement for all Cub Scout leader awards.

Optional Training
This day-long training event is designed for the Pack leader who will give leadership to a Pack Overnighter and for those new to camping or who would like to improve their camping skills at the Cub Scout level.

Safe Swim Defense and Safety Afloat Training
Any kind of a water activity for a Scout unit must be under the supervision of a leader trained in BSA's water safety principles. This course provides the necessary certification for leaders, and is good for two years. If you didn't get it last year you need it this year!
The University of Scouting is a supplemental training opportunity for all adult volunteer Scouters in the National Capital Area Council (NCAC). The next University of Scouting classes will be held on February 22, 2003.
