The summer 2002 Hike was continuously rained out.  Excerpts below from our 2001 hike.

Annual Billy Goat Trail Hike & Bike

For the third year I will be leading our Billy Goat Trail hike. This year we're adding a biking trek along the C&O Canal for those who are

interested following the hike. Details are as follows:

Date: Sunday, June 10th, 2001

Rain date: Sunday, June 16th

Who's Invited: All Pack 146 families

Time: Meet at St. Timothy's in the parking area between the cafeteria and the bus barn following the 8AM Sunday mass. We will be leaving St. Timothy's no later then 9:15AM.

Directions: 66 east, to 495 North (to Baltimore), take the Cabin John/Clara Barton Parkway exit (this is the exit following the George Washington Parkway exit, it's on the Maryland side of the American Legion bridge),

bear left on the exit ramp onto the Clara Barton Parkway. Take this until you

get to a stop sign where you will take a left onto MaCarthur Blvd.

Follow MaCarthur Blvd. west to a parking area opposite the Old Anglers Inn.

What to Bring/Wear: This is a 3+ mile hike which takes us on a trail along the Potomac River. I recommend wearing sneakers or hiking shoes/boots. I would also recommend bringing some snacks and drinks for the hike. Bringing bug spray and sunscreen may also be a good idea.

After Hike Plans: In years past many of us have packed picnic lunches. This year I thought it might be fun for those who are interested to go on a bike ride along the C&O Canal following the lunch break.

This is a great activity, as those who have attended in the past can attest.
