2005 Sully District Bake Off Rules
Here is everything you wanted to know about the 2005 Sully District Bake Off
It is important to note that each Pack Committee/Unit leader should make sure that each team entering has a copy of the Bake-Off rules to eliminate any confusion on the day of District Competition.
Teams
The teams will be comprised of a Cub Scout and an adult team member. The real purpose of the competition is to involve the family in a home project.
Competition
Cub Scout Packs may enter one team in each of the following categories: Cakes, Cookies, Pies, Bread, and Decorative/Creative.
Awards
The top three entries from each category will be awarded a trophy.
Schedule
Check-in will be between 9:30 and 11:30. Judging will be between 11:30 and 12:30. Winners will be announced and awards given at 1:00 pm. We suggest you drop off your entry and return later for the award announcements.
Rules
- Teams may enter in only one category.
- Each entry must be baked from scratch.
- Each entry must be accompanied by a recipe card with the actual recipe. The recipe card must have the Scout’s name, rank, and Pack number listed on the back (not the front).
- The back of each entry’s recipe card must contain the written statement, "The Scout helped clean the kitchen after baking" and signed by both team members.
- Photographs will not be used. Entries will remain anonymous to the judges.
- All entries, recipes and paperwork become the property of the Bake-Off Committee.
- The Decorative category may be comprised of any material and therefore is not required to be completely edible.
Judging
It is the responsibility of the Bake-Off Committee to interpret the rules and make any decisions necessary. Judges will be selected by the Bake-off committee, either randomly or by invitation.
Judging on the four edible categories will be based on:
- Compliance with all District Bake-Off rules
- Taste
- Texture
- Appearance (while "works of art" are impressive, they do not influence the taste)
Decisions of the Bake-Off Committee are final.
